When I stayed in this century old hotel in Shanghai, I got the feeling of travel on the Bund of Yu Garden
The most troublesome thing when visiting Shanghai is the cross district traffic jam and the subway crowding into sardine. This time, I chose Metropolo Classiq, Shanghai, YMCA-People square, Jinjiang Hotel, and found that it is simply the deepest "travel cheat" in the center of the city - going out is the core scenic spots of Yu Garden and the Bund. The subway, self driving, and walking are extremely smooth. I hardly wasted a minute on commuting for three days.
First, let's talk about the most convenient basic transportation: take Line 10 from Hongqiao Station to Yu Garden Station, turn around from Exit 3 to the gate of the hotel, and there is no transfer for 40 minutes, not even touching the cold wind in Shanghai; Take Line 2 and transfer to Line 10 from Pudong Airport, and you can arrive in just over an hour. If you want to catch an early flight, you don't have to rush out two hours in advance. It takes only 5 minutes to walk to the transfer stations of Line 8 and Line 14. Line 14 is an east-west main artery, and there is a direct train to Lujiazui and Jing'an Temple. Even during rush hour, there is no congestion in the subway, making it seamless to any commercial district in Shanghai.
The most wonderful thing is its golden circle of walking. I counted the number of hot spots that could be covered in 15 minutes when I lifted my legs from the gate of the hotel. I walked downstairs for 3 minutes and plunged directly into the old lane of Yu Garden. I got up in the morning to eat a bowl of hot Nanxiang dumplings, and didn't have to punch in half an hour's drive; Walk east for 10 minutes to reach the trail on the Bund, and in the evening, wait for the sunset to see the lights on at Lujiazui without crowding the crowds on Nanjing East Road; Walk north for 12 minutes and reach the starting point of Nanjing Road. Slowly stroll along the pedestrian street to People's Square, where you can also buy freshly baked meat mooncakes along the way. I even got up early one day, walked slowly for 20 minutes and walked directly to Garden Bridge of Shanghai. On the way, I took pictures of Shikumen buildings in old Shanghai, which was more interesting than taking a taxi.
The surrounding living facilities have exceeded expectations: there is a 24-hour convenience store 200 meters away from the hotel by turning right, so you don't have to run far to stock up on water and snacks in the middle of the night; There is a large chain supermarket within 500 meters. If you want to buy Shanghai souvenirs such as butterfly pastries and pear jelly candies, they are half as cheap as buying them at the entrance of the scenic area; Within 10 minutes of walking around, local dishes, fried dishes and time-honored Dim sum shops are piled up. You don't need to go all the way to the online stores to clock in. You can just go downstairs and turn into an alley to taste the authentic flavor of old Shanghai.
Friends who drive by themselves don't have to worry at all. It's rare to have their own exclusive parking lot in the core area of Shanghai. Anyone who has been here knows it. You don't have to spend half an hour searching for a parking spot in an old alley. After parking, you can directly enter the courtyard, take the Nanpu Bridge elevated road to Disneyland, and take Ruining Road all the way to Xuhui Binjiang without getting stuck in the traffic jam of the city.

After staying up all night for three consecutive nights, I climbed onto the rooftop terrace of the hotel without having to squeeze out the crowds of people on the Bund. The lights of Lujiazui and the evening breeze of Huangpu River collided directly into my arms, and after ten minutes of relaxation, most of the accumulated fatigue dissipated. After dinner, you can walk for ten minutes under the old city wall of Yu Garden. You don't have to take the time to run far, you can breathe in the fireworks of old Shanghai.
At the end of the week's itinerary, I hardly wasted time on commuting and trivial matters. For those who travel to Shanghai for business all year round, a good place to stay is never a luxuriously decorated cold room.
